An UPDATE from One Man's Treasure...

Dear Friends,

I want to express the gratitude of our Board and Staff for the support you give to One Man’s Treasure in so many ways and your prayers for our work and the men we serve, especially during these challenging times. You are a blessing!

While COVID-19 has created the need for social distancing, we are committed to continue our essential service to men who are still being released from incarceration with the clothes on their back and $100 and returning to our communities. Their critical need for clothing remains the same and we have implemented a temporary plan, working within government guidelines, to continue to have a set of clothes delivered to each man who calls in for assistance while maintaining the ministry aspect of our program.

  • One staff member is at the clothes closet each week day to take phone applications and gather the clothing and the clothing is sent by UPS to the client. 1-888-433-9826

  • Understanding the impact of returning to the community after years of incarceration into these uncertain times, one of our male volunteer shepherds calls the client to provide the same spiritual support, prayer and encouragement that he would have provided in person when he delivered the clothes in normal times.

While we would prefer to have a face to face visit with each client, this temporary program will allow each man’s immediate physical need for clothing to be met quickly and still provide the opportunity to share the care and concern of the community for his successful reentry and hope for a better future. Since the beginning of the year, we have served between 132-145 men each month and we anticipate that will continue or increase in each of the months ahead.

How can you help…

  • While you are spring cleaning during “shelter in place,” CLEAN OUR YOUR CLOSET and donate the men’s clothing and shoes that you are not using. Call 972-771-4141 or email info@onemanstr.org to set up an appointment to pick up. Current special needs: ALL types shoes, especially tennis shoes and workboots; 2XL and 3XL dress and polo shirts; new dress socks and boxer underwear.

  • MAKE  A DONATION to help cover the additional costs incurred in shipping the clothing to the clients, purchase additional clothing needs and meet our other program needs. $25-30 will cover the cost of shipping, $120 will provide a set of clothing plus pay the shipping cost. Donations can be made by credit card at www.onemanstr.org or by check at 519 I-30, #211, Rockwall, TX 75087.

  • Donate individual size toiletries to include with the sets of clothing, including hand sanitizers.

These are challenging times for our community and its people. There is much need and charities are faced with new challenges to meet the need that has grown. One Man’s Treasure is no exception with the postponement of our March gala and increased costs of service with this modified program we have implemented.  That said, we are guided by these principals…The needs of the men we serve are real during these unsettling times and we can make a difference by providing them with clothing and encouragement. Working together with God’s guidance, we will meet any challenge in the days ahead. “And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.” 2 Corinthians 9:8

I often take time to look back over messages that we receive from our clients as a reminder of my answer to the question we often hear, “Why do you do what you do?” In closing, I want to share this one with you. It is your answer too.

Thank you for your gifts and prayers. Be safe,
